  • 5 Secrets to a Highly Organized Home

We all envy the homes that are free from clutter and easy to clean. Most of us struggle with finding places for all of our belongings, especially when kids are involved. It seems like sporting equipment, school supplies, wires, and clothes quickly take over our daily living spaces. Here are some helpful tips from the people who have figured out how to keep a highly organized home.

    1. The Garbage is Your Friend

Throw out things you don’t need. The most significant barrier to keeping an organized house comes about because you have too much stuff. You don’t need ten wine openers, or every single art project your child has ever created. Don’t keep broken electronics, clothing with stains or holes, expired food, makeup, and stacks of magazines. Put them in the garbage!

    2. Donate, Donate, Donate

Keep a donation bag in your closet and when something doesn’t fit right, or you realize you will never wear it, put it in the bag. Put bags in your children’s closets as well, and teach them this habit as well. EVERY month, bring the bags to your local donation center.

    3. Be a Paperless Person

There is nothing worse than the stacks of paper that accumulate on your counters. Open paper mail over the recycling pile, and watch those piles disappear. File important documents once every few days, and shred and recycle the rest when possible.

    4. A Laundry Per Day Keeps The Mess Away

Every member of your family should have their own laundry basket. Put dirty clothes straight into a laundry basket, not the floor. Every single day, do one laundry. Always move all laundry into the dryer, fold it, and put it away on the same day. If your drawers are too full, it’s time to put some of your older clothes in the donation bags mentioned above.

    5. No Dirty Dishes

When meals are over, everyone must put their dishes in the dishwasher or hand wash them right away. Dirty dishes should never be left sitting around. Run the dishwasher every night and empty it in the morning while the coffee brews. These leaves room for dirty dishes every day so they won’t stack up on the counter.
